Mario Kart is a kart racing sub-series of the Mario franchise made by Nintendo. The first game was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992. The series stars many Mario characters, and a few Nintendo guests, racing in go-karts throwing items at each other to get first place. As of December 2023, the Mario Kart series has sold over 182.15 million copies worldwide.
