Resident Evil is a survival-horror series of video games developed by Capcom. Since the introduction of the series in 1996, the series has sold 71 million copies,[1] making it Capcom's best-selling franchise in terms of software sales. In terms of revenue, it has grossed $8 billion, from software sales and film adaptations, making it Capcom's second highest-grossing franchise, after Street Fighter.
